In order to provide a safe environment for residents, families and staff at The Ambassador and in accordance with current "State Fire Regulations", the following safety measures must be observed.
FIRE:
- All electrical equipment, i.e. TV., radio, lamps, etc., must be UL listed.
- All electrical equipment must be inspected and approved by the Maintenance Department.
- All electrical equipment must have a 3 prong plug. An adaptor may be used. However, the adaptor must be approved by the Maintenance Department before installation. Adapters are available from the facility at residents expense.
- Extension cords are prohibited. No exceptions.
- Portable/wall mounted heaters of any kind are prohibited.
- Heating pads are prohibited. (Exception: Aqua K Pads with physician's orders.)
- Microwaves are prohibited.
- Chemicals of any kind must be stored behind locked doors.
- All room decorations must be flame retardant.
- Plants may not be displayed on top of any electrical equipment,
i.e. TV. etc. Plants must have plastic protective saucers and plant stands.
- Cardboard boxes of any type are prohibited for storage in resident room/closet. Flame retardant plastic is acceptable pending approval by Maintenance Department.
- Books, newspapers and magazines must be stored in an orderly fashion on a shelf. No items will be stored in excess as determined by the Administrator.
- Smoking materials and lighters must be left at the nurses' station. Smoking is permitted only in designated areas with necessary supervision.
- Sharp objects (i.e. scissors, knives) are not encouraged in resident rooms.
